Some Pellet Rambling
|Pellets: have you ever wondered how far out you can consistently fly one of these things? Me too. Have you ever wanted to know how much damage they can actually inflict at 50 yards and even out to a hundred yards? Me too. Well today, we are going to find out
In this case, I am using a Daystate Wolverine. I only own two .177’s, and according to my log, this one hadn’t seen use since November of 2014. The night before last I re-cleaned the barrel and grabbed up the pellets that it had a tendency to do well with. If you’re anything like me, you spend a lot of time on forums seeking knowledge and trying to understand trends. One thing I noticed is that in countries where they could, it seem like most were moving away from .177, in favor of larger calibers. While i’ve prized my .177 for the low cost of ammunition, super-low report sound and higher margin of safety in Suburbia, I too found myself guilty of hopping on the .22 or larger bandwagon. But then I always remind myself why .177 is a great round to keep around (ha ha).
I came down to three simple reasons why. 1.) they’re easier to handle 2.) It seemed as if I were better able to hit my target at great distances even when fighting the wind and 3.) They seem to more cleanly dispatch small game. Humane kills are the name of the game afterall.
Since I just put a scope on the wolverine, we’ve got something to do before we get started with these tests and today, I’m making you do it with me. I’ve got some JSP 844’s, which is going to be a good pellet to get things dialed in with and then after that we’ll decide which pallet we’re going to move forward with for the day’s activities.
.
Good enough; JSP 844’s look good indeed. I had made a note that the Wolverine also took a liking to the Barracuda and Barracuda match in the 4.50 head size during the time that God had been Shell credit card International introduced a new polybag Kaanapali mix short the shorts are said to better fit in most magazines now so I brought along a 10 to see how the Wolverine like them we’ll try a 4 out of 50 yards and then we’ll declare a winner to get on with the day but I’m
